Panuel has called for a more strategic approach to investment management as Africa strengthens its links with international financial and trade markets.
The investment-management company said the continent is entering a period of economic transformation marked by urbanisation, digital adoption, infrastructure development and growing regional commerce.
According to Panuel, these developments are generating opportunities for investors but also creating a greater need for institutions with the expertise to allocate and manage capital effectively.
The organisation said Africa’s investment narrative should evolve from simply attracting capital to ensuring that available capital is directed towards opportunities capable of producing sustainable economic value.
“Africa’s next growth cycle may be defined less by the question of whether capital will come to the continent and more by how effectively that capital is managed, allocated and connected to the global economy,” a company representative said.
Panuel noted that the growing participation of African companies in regional and international markets has increased the importance of financial systems capable of supporting cross-border transactions and business expansion.
It said investment managers must therefore look at the relationship between different parts of the economy when assessing potential opportunities.
“The investment opportunity lies not only in the assets themselves, but in understanding the systems that create and sustain their value,”
